Smash Lab Louisville is a new company that operates out of the former Smashed Clothing headquarters in Louisville. It is located at 11440 Bluegrass Pkwy, Louisville, KY 40299. They have created the Rage Room and Paint Splatter Room as a way to bring people together and to expose them to something they may not have seen before. Smash Lab was fortunate enough to have an employee who had access to the old Smashed Clothing warehouse before it was sold, so we were able to secure three rooms for use: The Rage Room, Paint Splatter Room, and our newest addition, the Double Dutch Cabinet.
The Rage Room
The Rage Room is a room designed to push the limits of what a human being can stand. It is a 14’x16′ room with a 7′ high ceiling with two giant custom-built speakers, and two subwoofers controlling the bass. The room is lined with heavy-duty 2″ blue foam so you can safely swing your arms and punch the air with as much power as you have in your body. The speakers are connected to a custom sound board that is running a program that replays certain sounds and frequencies to help you control your movement. If you ever find yourself too far away from the room Click for more info, the system will broadcast sounds that can be heard through a bluetooth headset. The Rage Room is a place to explore your feelings, push your limits, and express yourself.
Paint Splatter Room
The Paint Splatter Room is a throwback to the early days of skateboarding. We started as a company that helped skaters and street artists, and we wanted to pay homage to that with the Paint Splatter Room. The room is covered with 5,000 sq. ft. of splatter paint, and a custom-made 6’x8′ spray booth to allow for open air painting. We want to invite in Louisville artists and creatives to use the space to create their own art and take advantage of the open air painting. We want people to walk into the room, pick up a brush, and splatter paint all over the walls and floor.
Double Dutch Cabinet
The Double Dutch Cabinet is a combination of the Rage Room and the Paint Splatter Room. We took one of the Rage Room speakers and ran it into the room, so you can experience the same low frequencies, but can add a layer of high frequencies to help you control your movement. The same blue 2″ heavy duty foam lined walls allow you to punch your arms like a boxer while experiencing the same room acoustics as the Rage Room. We have also added another element to the Double Dutch Cabinet that we think will be a hit: Vans wall racks. The wall racks allow you to hang almost anything you want, and you can hang a Double Dutch Cardboard Box that has a real rope handle. The rope handle and plastic box simulate the feeling of holding a real double dutch box. With the two cabinets combined, it creates a room dedicated to the same feeling that was created by the old heydays of skateboarding.
See You at Smash Lab Louisville: What’s Next?
We have been operating the Rage Room and Paint Splatter Room for a few months now and we have seen a lot of different things happen in the community. The Rage Room has been successful in exposing people to different kinds of art and expressions. We have also seen a lot of people pushing past their comfort zones both physically and emotionally. We have also seen a lot of people that have never been exposed to a place where they can be themselves and express themselves. We want to bring together these people and let them experience each of these rooms, Check this out. What we have planned is called See You at Smash Lab Louisville. We will be inviting people in the community to come experience the Rage Room and Paint Splatter Room at Smash Lab Louisville. We will be holding special events at the Rage Room and Paint Splatter Room. We will be inviting people to experience the Rage Room by taking a few minutes to explore their feelings and push their limits. We will then invite people to experience the Paint Splatter Room by walking into an open air art studio, grabbing a brush, and painting all over the walls. We will then invite people to experience the Double Dutch Cabinet by pushing themselves by holding a real double dutch cardboard box.
Final Words
We want to thank everyone that has supported us and helped us create the Rage Room and Paint Splatter Room. We want to especially thank our employees for all their hard work, and those that have used the rooms. The community has been great and we have seen a ton of support from skateboarders, artists, and skaters. We have also had so many non-skaters come in and experience the rooms. We want to thank Louisville for being such a supportive community. As for the future of Smash Lab Louisville, we are very excited about what is to come. We have partnered up with the Louisville skate scene to create a drop-in skatepark. We have partnered up with Louisville-based artist The Critters to produce art for the Rage Room and Paint Splatter Room. We are also in the process of creating a Louisville art scene where different artists can come together to create art. What we also want to do is invite different people in the community to pull together to create a creative space for the community. What we want to do is create a place where people can come together to create, learn, explore, and grow together. We want to create a community space where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. We want to create a place where people can come together to create, learn, explore, and grow together. We believe that Louisville is a very creative city. We want to show people that they can express themselves here, and we are excited to bring this creative energy together by creating a creative space.
